Cyclewise Bikeability Mechanics Qualification

Cyclewise Bikeability Mechanics Qualification (CBMQ) is a professional certified bike maintenance qualification. It is certified by Active IQ and endorsed by the Bikeability Trust.
This one day training and assessment course qualifies a Bikeability Instructor to be able to diagnose and then repair very basic bike maintenance issues. All too often, these simple repairs and lack of qualification to be able to rectify them, result in the termination of Bikeability training and a disappointed participant.
The CBMQ will train and qualify you to fix these issues, resulting in the trainee being able to continue with their Bikeability course.

 

The course is delivered from our dedicated training centre at Whinlatter Forest, Keswick, Cumbria.
We are also able to provide mobile delivery for groups and organisations.

The course consists of 1 day training and an assessment.

Course Content

This course will qualify you to complete the following tasks –

  • Adjust Seats
  • Fix Punctures
  • Adjust Headsets
  • Replace Brake Pads (rubber & disc)
  • Adjust Brake Levers and Callipers
  • Fix Chains
  • Adjust Handlebars
  • Index Gears

All tooling, equipment, bikes stands and bikes are provided for you to use on the day.

This course can only be accessed by active Bikeability Instructors and is designed to qualify you to help and assist in the delivery of your Bikeability Sessions. (It is not a professional bike maintenance qualification)

This course is endorsed by the Bikeability Trust. We are confident that it matches (and in places exceeds) the content and assessment criteria for the Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training. Everything that a cycle instructor will need to assess rider equipment and perform minor adjustments is contained in the course, and it is a great option for any Bikeability instructor.

Instructor Ratio: 1:6 maximum – we keep our training ratios low to ensure our tutor can spend the time required with each person on the course.
